Let me introduce you to the sweetest 9 day old newborn baby girl! This is little Fiona. She is an absolute doll! You know, my two boys are 5 and 3 now, and I truly forget just how small they really were until I get to snuggle these newborn babies. As I capture all their tiniest details, it so makes me wish I would have had newborn portraits of my kids taken. At the time, I didn’t really know much about them. Now I wish I had all these wonderful moments to treasure for a lifetime, and it makes me so happy when others want to do these. These are the most precious portraits of their ever changing features that are frozen in that very moment. I just love getting to work with newborns and their parents!
While all of this sounds so dreamy and the images look so peaceful and content, the 2-3 hours it typically takes to go through a newborn session isn’t always as though it seems. Sometimes I truly think the job title ‘newborn photographer’ could be on that show Dirty Jobs – ha ha ha! There are always a few clean ups since the babies aren’t always in a diaper and inevitably a few feeding sessions during this time. It gets messy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world! Soothing these babies into a deep sleep and molding them in my hands and onto the posing beanbag is truly wonderful. They are so tiny and so fragile, and being able to capture them is the best job ever!
Baby Fiona was a prime example of why I love this job. She was so sweet during her session! She didn’t want to miss a single thing we were doing, as she would take little cat naps. Just enough time for one pose and setup, then she was awake again. After several attempts, we finally decided she just wanted her session to be while she was awake! That was ok by me because look at those beautiful eyes she has! She was wide awake, stretching and taking it all in. I just LOVE the way these images turned out, and I’m so looking forward to her future sessions with me. Her parents selected the Grow With Me plan that I offer, so they still have a 6 month session and 1 year session coming up! I definitely don’t want to wish time away, but it will be so much fun to see how much she’s changed and grown for that 6 month session. This is the reason I love the Grow With Me package. I’m able to capture these kiddos at their milestones and document each step along the way. Best Job Ever!
Please enjoy a few of my favorite images from her session.
